Nov 25 – Miche Berlander aka Yung Gud, has officially released his first solo project titled, Beautiful, Wonderful EP. In an interview earlier this year, the Stockholm teenager explained that aside from hip-hop, his “Yung Gud” project is largely influenced by experimental music from all over the map: “mainly things with ambience. Not specifically ambient music, but like trance music, or like the Boards of Canada style of music has always been an influence — at least for me. Left-field music in general, from all over.” The Sad Boys crew member is the sonic architect behind some of Yung Lean‘s most gripping productions, like “Kyoto” and “Yoshi City”, plus a string of detail-oriented, strangely moving remixes of IRL hits like “2 On” and Jacques Greene‘s “No Excuses.” Now, he’s dropping the four-track Beautiful, Wonderful EP, his first formal solo release. “I’ve always wanted to make a product of some sort, so with this EP, I’m finally selling a specific sound and look to the people that have been supporting my music for the past year and a half. I don’t really have an agenda. Making music for us is like having a drunk conversation or a high conversation. It’s just something that happens.”

The producer behind a handful of stand-out tracks on Yung Lean’s debut mixtape and more than half of his album (Unknown Death 2002 and Unknown Memory, respectively), Yung Gud has established himself as a key figure in sad boy rap. The EP finds the young producer at his most maximalist, fusing 8-bit synths, melancholy melodies, distorted 808 sub, and punchy, dance-ready beats for something more powerful than his Yung Lean productions.

Yung Gud will also support Yung Lean on his North American tour.
